Apart from creating many of the images used on my websites, i've also published some illustrations in magazines. Diagrams are an interesting way to depict inforamtion in new ways that provide the end user with alternative ways of looking at information.

Illustrations designed for User Experience Magazine

This first design was made for an article on managing usability projects. The thought bubbles reprsent the different aspects of the usability process and the concerns with time, budget and the interfaces invloved in developing user based tools.

The image to the left was developed for an article on the Agile Development methodology. The figure is climbing thru the image in the manner of somone advancing thru the various phases of this development.

Statistical Representation of Population Decline in Colonial Mexico

The diagram created below will be utilized on a portion of ancientmexico.com for an area dealing with the impact of colonialism on the indiginous population of mesoamerica in the century after the conquest. Rather then use graphs or pie charts, I chose to use a more visceral method by which to present the same information. This has the added impact of showing the drastic decline with color representing the physical dimensions of the conquest.
